This month, our featured guest artist will be Katherin Kneisley, a Boston-based soprano, proficient in both opera and musical theatre repertoire. Most recently, she sang “Donna Anna” in Don Giovanni with Greater Worcester Opera. Other notable opera and operetta credits include Suzel in L’amico Fritz, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Anne Page in The Merry Wives of Windsor, La Badessa in Suor Angelica, and the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas. Musical theatre credits include Mary Sunshine in Chicago, Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man, and Golde in Fiddler on the Roof. She appeared in Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra’s “Night at the Opera” concert, singing selections from La Bohème as Mimì. Ms. Kneisley pursued her graduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa.
The concert takes place Sunday, September 9th at 3:00 p.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 143 State Street, Portland. Suggested donation $10/5 seniors (students are admitted free of charge). The Portland Rossini Club is a group of Maine musicians that presents a monthly concert series of classical music in Portland, Maine. The club also runs a competitive music scholarship program.
Prospective performing members are chosen by audition and include professional performers, music teachers and skilled amateurs. An elected Board of Directors runs the Portland Rossini Club. The scholarship competition will be held on June 2 for college music majors in three categories – instrumental, piano and vocal.
