This month, our featured guest artist will be pianist Dr. Michael Braz, Director Emeritus of the Boy Singers of Maine and former Portland Symphony Orchestra keyboardist. Braz will perform brief works by Scriabin, Gershwin, and Lecuona, as well as an original Braz composition. Soprano Elizabeth Harmon will join Michael Braz in performing works by Mussorgsky and Gershwin.
Violinist Eleanor Lehmann and cellist Mathew Nichols will play five selections from Eight Duets, Opus 39 by Reinhold Glière. Pianist Cynthia Henriques will perform two selections from Robert Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, Opus 12. Cellist Tim Carter, clarinetist Steve Schiffman, and pianist David Sherman will play Carl Frühling’s Trio for clarinet, cello, and piano, Opus 40.
The concert takes place Sunday, April 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 143 State Street, Portland. Suggested donation $10/5 seniors (students are admitted free of charge). And enjoy a brief reception after the concert where you can meet our performers.

The Portland Rossini Club is a group of Maine musicians that presents a monthly concert series of classical music in Portland, Maine. The club also runs a competitive music scholarship program.
Prospective performing members are chosen by audition and include professional performers, music teachers and skilled amateurs. An elected Board of Directors runs the Portland Rossini Club. The scholarship competition will be held on June 2 for college music majors in three categories – instrumental, piano and vocal.
